VISA OBTENTION PROCEDURE

TOURIST VISA

In order to request tourist visa, applicants are kindly requested to contact a travel agency in Switzerland or Turkmenistan, a list of which can be requested from the Embassy. The latter assist in obtaining an “Invitation Letter” from the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan. Such a letter serves a basis for the Embassy to issue a visa.

Documents for obtention of tourist visa:

1. The abovementioned invitation letter;
2. A letter addressed to the Embassy, containing the following information: (either written by the applicant or his/her travel representative in Switzerland)

• Surname and name;
• Contact details: phone number and e-mail;
• Exact dates of arrival and departure;
• Type of request: express or non-urgent (see payment variations)

1. Colour copy of a passport;
2. 1 visa application form duly completed (to be downloaded at the web-site) with a glued photo
3. 1 questionnaire with a glued photo (to be downloaded at the web-site; a space «supervisor» must be signed by an employer/Human Resources officer of the applicant).
4. In case of request for a visa for a period longer than 3 months, you must have a medical certificate on the examination for detection of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

TRANSIT VISA

Documents for obtention of transit visa (all doc-s should be send by registered mail, should be visible and duly filled ):

1. A letter by registered post mail (EINSCHREIEBEN\RECOMMANDE) addressed to the Embassy's containing the following information: (either written by the applicant or his/her travel representative in Switzerland) (draft is attached for your convinience)

• Surname and name;
• Contact details: phone number and e-mail;
• Exact dates of arrival and departure (max. 5 days for transit, for ex., 10-14 April, and not 10-15 April).
• Detailed route, indicating bordering cities (entry and exit points): for example, Sarahs - Mary - Farap)
• Type of request: express or non-urgent (see payment variations)
• Place, Date and signature

2. Colour copies of visas of two or more neighbouring countries in your passport: country from which you are entering Turkmenistan, as well as a country you are going to from Turkmenistan;

3. Colour copy of your passport;

4. 1 visa application form duly completed (to be downloaded at the web-site) with a glued photo.

5. 1 questionnaire with a glued photo (to be downloaded at the web-site); a space «supervisor» must be signed by an employer/Human Resources officer of the applicant).

6. Passport (should be send separately via post mail, only after positive approval of your visa request)

If the applicant is far from Geneva, documents for visa request can be received by a duly registered post mail (RECOMMANDE or EINSCHREIBEN), and could be send back after obtaining to applicant. For this option applicant have to write down in letter to Embassy and attach payed envelop. Embassy will not accept such request without attached envelop or envelop which not comply with abovementioned conditions.

Duration of visa request consideration:

- Urgent transit visa request: 10 days-2 weeks

- Urgent tourism visa request: 3 working days

- Non-urgent transit visa request: up to 3 weeks

- Non-urgent tourism visa request: 5 working days

IMPORTANT: in cases where an applicant applies for a transit visa shortly before his/her departure from Switzerland, he/she have to provide the abovementioned documents. This must be clearly indicated in the letter. In such a case, the Embassy will check all the documents. The Invitation letter from State Migration service must be printed out by the applicant and presented at the boarder checkpoint in Turkmenistan.

BUSINESS AND GUEST VISAS:

Applicants, wishing to obtain business and guest visas, need to submit the same abovementioned documents. As for the invitation letter of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan, this must be requested by the inviting company or physical person in Turkmenistan.

Payment:

Payment should be made only in EURO (not Swiss francs) and only after confirmation from the Embassy that you are granted a visa. You will be informed by Consular officer of the Embassy. Otherwise, the visa fees are not refundable in case of failure to grant a visa. Cosnulsar Fees do not include banking fees. Please check whether full price was payed properly.

Prior payments are not accepted. Payments should be made only after a positive reply from the Embassy. In cases where it is issued at the border, payment should be made there, and not to the Embassy.

The Embassy accepts only a bank payment, no cash (ask bank account details after your visa will be approved by e-mail). When doing so, please indicate names:

 

Reception of applications:

Applications for both tourism and transit visas can be received by a duly registered post mail (RECOMMANDE or EINSCHREIBEN) or personal appointment only (call 1 day before). We DO NOT ACCEPT applications by e-mail. Where necessary, a return envelope of the same type must be enclosed.

Incomplete applications will be returned without notice.

OBTENTION OF A VISA AT THE BORDER:

Any visa type can be obtained at the border upon arrival, provided that the applicant already has an Invitation letter from the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan. In that case visa fees will be charged as it for urgent visa. 

IMPORTANT DEADLINE

All the payment should be finalized till 25th calendar day of each month.
