SEVENTEENTH MEETING OF THE JOINT COMMITTEE "TURKMENISTAN-EU" WAS HELD IN ASHGABA

On December 5, 2017, the Seventeenth Meeting of the "Turkmenistan-EU" Joint Committee was held in Ashgabat. To attend the meeting, the delegation from the European Union, lead by the Director for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, Regional Cooperation and the OSCE in the European External Action Service (EEAS), Luc Pierre Devigne, arrived in the Turkmen capital.

During the meeting the sides discussed wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation in the sphere of trade and economics between Turkmenistan and the European Union. In particular, such issues as the macroeconomic situation in Turkmenistan, the rule of law and humanitarian issues, public administration reform, energy, education, transport and environmental protection were discussed.

The sides also exchanged views on the development of regional cooperation, the implementation of EU technical projects and programs in Turkmenistan, energy projects, opportunities for diversifying gas supplies from Turkmenistan to Europe, EU projects in the field of security "CADAP" and "BOMCA".

After the meeting, the parties agreed to hold the next 18th meeting of the Joint Committee "Turkmenistan - European Union" in Brussels 2018.
