The delegation of Turkmenistan is participating in the 10th International Forum on Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), held from 27 to 29 April 2026 in Barcelona and organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).

The Forum is taking place in the context of the approaching 2030 deadline for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and aims to accelerate progress towards sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient infrastructure. Particular attention is given to the role of PPPs as a key instrument for mobilizing investment and implementing long-term infrastructure projects.

The agenda focuses on the implementation of major international initiatives, including the UN Pact for the Future, the Seville Commitment on Financing for Development, and the Awaza Program of Action for Landlocked Developing Countries. These frameworks highlight the importance of strengthening international cooperation, promoting innovative financing mechanisms, and advancing sustainable development models.

Participants are also discussing issues related to closing the global infrastructure gap, developing blended finance mechanisms, and integrating digital technologies and circular economy principles into PPP projects.

During the Forum, the delegation of Turkmenistan will present the country’s approaches to the development of public-private partnerships and economic modernization. In particular, information will be provided on the expansion of the private sector’s role, measures taken to implement the Law of Turkmenistan “On Public-Private Partnerships” (2021), the development of the institutional framework for PPPs, and the preparation of pilot projects in cooperation with international financial institutions.

Priority sectors include transport and logistics, next-generation energy, the agro-industrial sector, digital transformation, urban infrastructure, and tourism, including the development of the Awaza National Tourist Zone.
