A Meeting Was Held in Lausanne Between the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN and the Leadership of the International Equestrian Federation

On 4 March 2026, a meeting was held in Lausanne between H.E. Vepa Hajiyev, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations in Geneva, and the leadership of the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (Fédération Équestre Internationale – FEI). Representing the FEI at the meeting were the President of the organization, Ingmar De Vos, and the Secretary General, Sabrina Ibáñez.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the development of international cooperation in the field of equestrian sport and on expanding interaction with international sports organizations. It was noted that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of equestrian sport and to strengthening international partnerships in this field.

The Turkmen side emphasized that it places great importance on the development of international cooperation in the field of equestrian sport. It was also noted that 2026 has been declared in the country as the year of “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Determined Winged Horses,” which gives additional significance to the development of partnerships in this area.

In this regard, interest was expressed in considering the possibility of holding international show jumping competitions in Turkmenistan jointly with the FEI.

In addition, the prospects of holding the FEI General Assembly in Turkmenistan in the coming years were discussed. Particular attention was also paid to the development of the International Equestrian Academy, including possible cooperation with the FEI regarding the assignment of instructors in the discipline of show jumping.

It was also noted that Turkmenistan intends to participate in the upcoming FEI General Assembly, which will take place in December of this year in Guangzhou.
