THE 8TH MEETING OF THE TURKMEN–TAJIK INTERGOVERNMENTAL COMMISSION HELD IN DUSHANBE

On October 25–26, 2018, the 8th meeting of the joint Turkmen-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation was held in the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan, Dushanbe. The Turkmen part of this commission was headed by the Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, and the Tajik part was headed by the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that within the framework of developing and strengthening friendly and good neighborly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation, Turkmenistan pays great attention to expanding its partnership with the Republic of Tajikistan in the political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian fields.

In addition, the parties discussed issues related to the implementation of documents in the fields of trade, investment, the economy, construction, industry, agriculture, science and culture, signed during the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Tajikistan on 2–3 November 2017, as well as issues of implementation of decisions of the seventh meeting of the commission.

Also, the participants of the meeting, taking into account the favorable geographical location and the possibilities of the two countries in the transit-transport sphere, agreed to continue an active discussion on cooperation in the field of transport and communications. In order to timely commission the railway Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Tajikistan, they noted the need for greater intensification of work on the construction of this line.

Following the results of the 8th meeting of the joint intergovernmental Turkmen–Tajik Commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation, a protocol was signed.
