President of Turkmenistan Holds Talks with the President of Mongolia
On 2 June 2025, in Ulaanbaatar, as part of his state visit to Mongolia, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held negotiations with President of Mongolia Ukhnaa Khurelsukh.
During the restricted-format meeting, the President of Mongolia warmly welcomed the distinguished guest and expressed gratitude for accepting the invitation for a state visit. In turn, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked his Mongolian counterpart for the cordial reception and conveyed warm greetings from the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, noting with appreciation the President of Mongolia’s participation in the 2024 International Forum commemorating the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi.
The parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. Particular attention was given to the implementation of agreementsreached during President Khurelsukh’s visit to Ashgabat in October 2024.
In the expanded-format talks, both sides outlined priority areas of bilateral partnership, including transport and logistics, energy, agriculture, veterinary science, textile industry, science, and education. The two leaders emphasized the importance of creating a Joint Committee on Road Transport, as well as relevant committees for agricultural and veterinary cooperation.
President Berdimuhamedov invited Mongolia to participate in the International Forum on the 30th Anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Neutrality, to be held in Ashgabat in December 2025, coinciding with the UN-proclaimed International Year of Peace and Trust.
Key topics discussed also included:
- Mongolia’s participation in the 3rd UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, to be held in Avaza, Turkmenistan, in August,
- expansion of cultural and academic exchanges, including inter-university cooperation,
- implementation of joint projects in the light industry, and
- support for the Mongolian initiative on establishing the International Research Center for Landlocked Developing Countries, headquartered in Ulaanbaatar.
At the conclusion of the talks, a signing ceremony of bilateral documents took place. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh signed a Joint Statement, and 13 agreements were signed in the presence of both heads of state.
Following the signing ceremony, the presidents addressed the media.
Upon completing his state visit, President Berdimuhamedov departed from Ulaanbaatar and returned to Turkmenistan.
