On 2 June 2025, as part of his state visit to Mongolia, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Dashzegviin Amarbayasgalan.

Warmly welcoming the distinguished guest, the Speaker of the Mongolian Parliament emphasized that it was a great honor to meet with the head of Turkmenistan, who pursues a constructive and peace-oriented foreign policy focused on broad regional and international engagement. In this context, he underlined the importance of the recent high-level bilateral talks held in Ulaanbaatar, which marked a significant step forward in the interstate dialogue.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, noted that the current meeting would contribute to enhancing mutual understanding and developing new forms of cooperation, including at the level of legislative bodies.

He recalled that last year, the President of Mongolia paid a state visit to Turkmenistan, during which a Joint Statement on Interstate Relations was adopted, and a Roadmap for 2025–2026 was established to implement the outcomes of the visit.

The President of Turkmenistan emphasized that inter-parliamentary cooperation is one of the key areas of bilateral partnership. In this regard, Friendship Groups have been established in the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the State Great Khural of Mongolia to support political and diplomatic dialogue through parliamentary diplomacy.

Priority areas for expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation include:

- establishing regular contact between the friendship groups,

- organizing working visits,

- developing exchanges between young parliamentarians,

- promoting the role of women in inter-parliamentary activities,

- and sharing legislative experience between specialized committees.

President Berdimuhamedov also noted the important role of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting interstate relations and advancing joint initiatives at major international platforms such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

In response, Chairman Amarbayasgalan expressed appreciation for the valuable proposals presented by the President of Turkmenistan and reaffirmed Mongolia’s interest in deepening inter-parliamentary dialogue, as a key element in the comprehensive development of Turkmen-Mongolian relations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation between the highest legislative bodies, recognizing it as an important element in fostering friendly relations and mutual understanding between the nations of the two countries.
