REPRESENTATIVES OF THE CASPIAN STATES DISCUSSED THE DRAFT AGREEMENT ON COOPERATION IN THE FIELD OF TRANSPORT

On April 23-24, 2018, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted the third meeting of authorized representatives of the Caspian littoral countries to discuss the draft Agreement on cooperation between the Caspian states in the field of transport in the Caspian Sea. Representatives of the relevant ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Russia and Kazakhstan took part in the meeting.

During the meeting, a productive exchange of views and discussion of expert assessments was held on the proposed by the Turkmen side Agreement on cooperation between the Caspian states in the field of transport. The peculiarities of our states are their advantageous geographical position at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, which opens up great prospects in the field of transit transportation and the provision of logistics services.

         Development of the draft Agreement on cooperation of the Caspian states in the field of transport, providing for the establishment of an international transport and logistics center, will provide conditions for further dynamic socio-economic development of neighboring countries, and will enhance their investment attractiveness, contribute to strengthening regional and interregional trade, economic, cultural-humanitarian and tourist connections.
