A MEETING WITH THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR PETROLEUM OF THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF PAKISTAN WAS HELD AT THE MFA OF TURKMENISTAN

On September 21, 2022, a meeting was held between the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Minister of State for Petroleum of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Musadik Masood Malik.

During the meeting, significance of the high-level contacts for further strengthening bilateral and multilateral interaction between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was underlined.

In the course of the talks, the parties discussed the issues of trade-economic cooperation, in particular partnership in energy field. In this context, the possibilities of further advancement of the implementation of strategically important projects as transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI), power lines and fiber-optic communication lines along the route Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) were considered.

The Minister of State for Petroleum of Pakistan noted that the leadership of Pakistan support the above-mentioned projects, which have importance for each of the parties and for the region as a whole.

Activation of joint work on implementation of these large-scale projects is one of the main tasks of Turkmen-Pakistani trade and economic cooperation.
