President of Turkmenistan Receives High Representative of the European Union

On March 27, 2025, the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, received the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission, Ms. Kaja Kallas.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to discuss priority areas of bilateral cooperation, the High Representative of the European Union emphasized that the European Union highly appreciates the achievements of Turkmenistan in all spheres. Ms. Kallas also noted that the vibrant architectural appearance of the capital, Ashgabat, left a lasting impression on her.
Warmly welcoming Ms. Kaja Kallas, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov pointed out that, during her visit, she would participate in the next meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Central Asian countries and the European Union. The President expressed confidence that the outcomes of this meeting would contribute to the deepening of multilateral relations with the EU and wished success in the upcoming work.
It was noted that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to cooperation with the European Union in political, diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
In recent years, Turkmenistan–EU cooperation in the political and diplomatic sphere has been successfully developing both bilaterally and multilaterally. Special attention during the meeting was paid to the partnership within the Central Asia–European Union format. Given the potential of the Central Asian countries, the development of effective and mutually beneficial cooperation with the European Union is of great importance for the entire region.
In this regard, it was mentioned that the first "Central Asia–European Union" Summit will be held in Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan, and is intended to promote the establishment of multi-faceted and long-term partnership on a regular basis.
While discussing the current state of cooperation and the possibilities for its expansion, it was emphasized that a close dialogue with the EU is being maintained within the framework of programs aimed at the socio-economic development of Turkmenistan. A number of major projects in the field of transport communications across the Eurasian space are being gradually implemented.
President Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan, together with the countries of the region and reputable international organizations, is actively developing such promising transport corridors as North–South and East–West. He expressed confidence that these corridors would become a reliable bridge for expanding cooperation with the countries of the Eurasian continent in the trade and economic sphere.
The Head of State highly appreciated the level of development of the multi-faceted dialogue between Turkmenistan and the European Union and reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to its further expansion.
At the conclusion of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Ms. Kaja Kallas, expressed confidence in the further successful development of mutually beneficial cooperation and exchanged best wishes.
