Turkmenistan to carry out population and housing census in 2022

On October 19, 2017 during the regular session of the Cabinet of Ministers was announced that Turkmenistan will conduct a population and housing census in 2022 as part of the UN Economic and Social Council’ Resolution entitled “The 2020 World Population and Housing Census Program”, adopted on June 10, 2015.

A state commission will be set up to ensure a high degree of organization of the official survey.

The census results are required to adjust the country’s socio-economic policy. Census data give legal grounds for taking measures in the socio-economic sphere and should be considered while planning budgets at all levels, first and foremost the State Budget.
