Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov sent a congratulatory letter to the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
As reported by "Report", the letter states that Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov sincerely and wholeheartedly congratulated President Aliyev and, through him, the entire people of Azerbaijan on the unanimous decision adopted at the 7th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia regarding the full participation of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia.
He emphasized that this is undoubtedly a historic event, symbolizing the transformation of Central Asia and Azerbaijan into a unified geopolitical and geoeconomic space and paving the way for the creation of a strong union of states and peoples based on brotherhood, good-neighborliness, equality and cooperation, as well as a deep understanding of their shared historical destinies.
Berdimuhamedov expressed firm conviction that the decision is fully justified and objectively reflects the historical trajectory, vital needs, and genuine interests of the countries of Central Asia and Azerbaijan. He noted that for many centuries the peoples of the region have been linked by geographical proximity, shared civilizational roots, cultural affinities and common spiritual values, which together formed a unique model of relations that continues to influence contemporary political, economic, social and humanitarian processes.
He stressed that Central Asia and Azerbaijan are destined to become a key link in transcontinental multidimensional connectivity, without which it is impossible to build a balanced and sustainable architecture of the modern global economy. Azerbaijan’s participation in this process is now supported by an additional solid political and legal foundation.
Berdimuhamedov underlined the significance of the Consultative Meeting format, describing it as an essential platform for promoting peace, trust, harmony, good-neighborliness and mutually beneficial partnership among participating states. He expressed pride that Turkmenistan was the country to initiate the creation of this format more than fifteen years ago in Uzbekistan, which later led to the first official meeting in Kazakhstan and subsequent gatherings in Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. According to him, time has proven the relevance, usefulness and alignment of this mechanism with the fundamental interests of all participating nations.
He also highlighted the establishment of the Honorary Badge of the Heads of State of Central Asia as a new stage in strengthening mutual understanding, noting that the first recipient was the President of Tajikistan.
Referring to the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries held in August in the “Awaza” National Tourist Zone, Berdimuhamedov expressed particular pride that Turkmenistan initiated the extraordinary Consultative Meeting during the event, where it proposed granting Azerbaijan full membership. He noted with satisfaction that this initiative was fully supported by the Presidents of the Central Asian states in Tashkent, marking a significant and promising step towards further integration and collective progress.
Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that Azerbaijan’s accession will become a defining factor in deepening cooperation, noting the country’s political authority, substantial resource, industrial and technological potential, and achievements in cultural and humanitarian spheres. He stated that Azerbaijan’s involvement will strengthen regional dynamics and enhance the role of Central Asian and Azerbaijani states on the global stage as responsible and united partners.
He concluded by stating that Turkmenistan looks forward to welcoming President Ilham Aliyev as a dear brother and friend at the 8th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, which will take place next year in Turkmenistan.
Berdimuhamedov once again extended his sincere congratulations and wished President Aliyev good health, long life and success in his state and international activities, and wished the brotherly people of Azerbaijan peace, happiness, prosperity and well-being.
