S.Lavrov: Russia has great respect for Turkmenistan's wise choice in favor of permanent neutrality

On June 25, at the Yyldyz Hotel in the capital, Russian Foreign Minister S.V. Lavrov spoke to the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, as well as teachers and students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The Minister shared his vision of the latest trends in world politics, spoke about the constructive development of Turkmen-Russian relations in a wide range of areas.

The Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry highly appreciated the activities of Turkmenistan in the international arena in accordance with the status of permanent neutrality of the country. This is the only country whose full neutral status has been officially recognized unanimously by the UN General Assembly three times, he noted.

"Unifying international initiatives of Turkmenistan: dialogue as a guarantee of peace; a zone of peace, trust and cooperation in Central Asia; the announcement of this year as the International Year of Peace and Trust continue to make a significant contribution to the preservation of peace and stability in the region and beyond,” Minister Lavrov emphasized.

During the speech, the Russian side expressed gratitude to the leadership of Turkmenistan for prompt assistance in the departure of Russian citizens from Iran, in connection with the situation in the Middle East.
