Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Participates in the Fourth Meeting of the Central Asia–India Dialogue

On 6 June 2025, within the framework of his official visit to the Republic of India, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov participated in the Fourth Meeting of the Central Asia–India Dialogue.
During the session, the foreign ministers discussed prospects for multilateral cooperation and ways to enhance the effectiveness of economic interaction, including mutual trade, investment, industrial collaboration, and transport connectivity with India.
It was emphasized that diplomatic engagement within this dialogue mechanism serves to promote a culture of interstate cooperation and strengthen mutually beneficial partnerships on key issues of the global and regional agenda.
The Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan noted the country’s active efforts to promote economic and investment integration, as well as its leadership in initiating major infrastructure and logistics projects. In this regard, special attention was given to the strategic importance of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline project in enhancing regional interconnectivity.
The discussions also covered the development of the transport and transit potential of Central Asian countries and India, with a focus on the creation of regional and international transport corridors.
Regarding regional security, Turkmenistan’s neutral status was highlighted as an effective instrument for promoting peace, stability, and international security at both regional and global levels.
The meeting also explored opportunities for expanding cooperation in innovative technologies, digitalization, biotechnology, and nanotechnology. In this context, a proposal was made to establish a Joint Program for Technological and Scientific Cooperation between Central Asia and India, with emphasis on educational exchanges, joint research, start-up support, and the introduction of innovations in production.
The importance of cooperation in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and scientific research was also underlined. At the conclusion of the session, it was noted that in today’s complex global landscape, joint diplomatic efforts between Central Asia and India can contribute significantly to ensuring political stability, economic sustainability, and a balanced approach to shared interests.
