Turkmenistan Participates in the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GP2025) in Geneva
From 2 to 6 June 2025, the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GP2025) was held in Geneva, organized by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR).
The event was attended by the delegation of Turkmenistan, headed by Deputy Minister of Defense, Chief of the Main Directorate for Civil Defense and Rescue Operations, Mr. Dovran Durdyev.
On 5 June, during the High-Level Ministerial Session, the delegation of Turkmenistan delivered a statement emphasizing the importance of protecting the population and infrastructure from risks related to natural and climate-induced disasters. The Turkmen side highlighted the significance of a systematic approach to civil defense, the strengthening of national resilience, and the expansion of international cooperation in this field.
The session was attended by delegations from 41 countries, including Malaysia, Namibia, Greece, the UAE, India, Kenya, Portugal, Italy, the Republic of Korea, Spain, Cuba, as well as representatives of the European Commission, UNICEF, the Asian Development Bank, and other international bodies.
Turkmenistan’s participation in GP2025 reaffirmed the country’s strong commitment to international collaboration in disaster risk reduction and the promotion of global resilience.
