Turkmenistan Participates in International Youth Leadership Conference in Geneva

On May 16, 2025, Geneva hosted the international conference "Future We Want – Global Initiative for Young Leaders," organized by the Italian Diplomatic Academy with the support of the United Nations and in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva.
The event served as an important platform for exchanging ideas and promoting youth initiatives aimed at shaping a more sustainable and peaceful future. In this context, the Turkmen delegation emphasized the significance of the 30th anniversary of the internationally recognized status of Turkmenistan's Permanent Neutrality, which was highlighted as a meaningful contribution to global peace, trust, and sustainable development.
Speaking at the conference, the representative of Turkmenistan's Permanent Mission highlighted the continuity and strategic orientation of the country's foreign policy, pursued under the leadership of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. Particular attention was given to initiatives reflecting the spirit of neutrality, constructive dialogue, and international responsibility.
Special emphasis was placed on the significance of 2025 being proclaimed the "International Year of Peace and Trust" by the United Nations General Assembly—based on a resolution initiated by Turkmenistan and unanimously adopted by UN Member States. In this light, Turkmenistan's participation in a youth-oriented conference acquired additional symbolic and political importance.
The Permanent Mission also presented several national youth initiatives, including the "Young SDG Ambassadors" program and efforts to develop international youth partnerships. These initiatives aim to support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Agenda and foster global engagement among young leaders.
In conclusion, the Turkmen delegation reaffirmed the country's strong commitment to actively participating in international initiatives aimed at building a sustainable, peaceful, and inclusive world, with a special focus on youth empowerment, dialogue, and international cooperation.
