A school built by Turkmen constructors has been opened in Tajikistan

In the Dusti district of the Khatlon region of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Mahtumkuli secondary school, with a capacity of 540 students, was officially opened. The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, participated in the opening ceremony of the facility online.

In his speech, Emomali Rahmon emphasized that the opening of the school on Knowledge Day is a good sign, reminding everyone that the modern school was built at the initiative of the national leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The construction of the school began as part of the state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Tajikistan in May of last year. The school will have 1,080 children studying in two shifts.

Then, Serdar Berdimuhamedov delivered a congratulatory address to numerous guests and participants of the ceremony via online communication. He emphasized that the opening of the Mahtumkuli secondary school is a historic event in the chronicle of interstate cooperation in the field of education. The President of Turkmenistan expressed confidence that such events would contribute to further development of bilateral humanitarian cooperation.

The foundation of the school was laid on May 10, 2023, during the state visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Tajikistan. The construction of the new educational facility's complex was carried out in Tajikistan by Turkmen builders. The site for the school was chosen considering that one of the largest Turkmen communities resides in the Khatlon region of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The school building is an educational complex with a total area of over 4,300 square meters. The construction was carried out in accordance with modern standards and fully funded by the Turkmen side. The main building houses 24 spacious and bright classrooms, providing all the necessary conditions for a productive educational process. There is also a library, an indoor sports hall, a large assembly hall, a canteen, and a medical room.
