LAUNCH OF TURKMENISTAN'S CHAIRMANSHIP IN SPECA

On January 29, 2025, the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the United Nations Office in Geneva organized a hybrid-format meeting on Turkmenistan’s chairmanship in the Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA).

The event was attended by the leadership of the regional UN commissions coordinating the SPECA Programme - the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) and the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), as well as the accredited Permanent Representatives of the SPECA member states in Geneva, and the heads and representatives of national coordinating authorities.

During the meeting, the Turkmen side provided detailed information on the concept of its chairmanship, as well as on all related events planned for this year.

During the open discussions, the participating parties also exchanged views on joint activities for the near future, particularly regarding the implementation of agreements reached between the parties during previous chairmanships.
