From 8 to 17 July 2025, the 66th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is taking place in Geneva. The delegation of Turkmenistan, headed by the Chair of the State Service for Intellectual Property under the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, is participating in the event.

More than 1,000 delegates from WIPO Member States are attending the current session. The agenda includes regular and special meetings of WIPO committees and permanent bodies, as well as consultations of regional groups. Central themes include strengthening the global intellectual property protection system, expanding international cooperation in the fields of patenting, copyright, and related rights, and addressing issues related to digital transformation, innovation, and the use of artificial intelligence.

Particular attention is being given to ensuring a balanced approach between the interests of IP creators and users in the context of rapid technological development. On the margins of the Assemblies, the Turkmen delegation has scheduled bilateral meetings with representatives of relevant international organizations and WIPO Member States. In particular, consultations are planned with WIPO leadership and experts on the drafting of a mid-term National Intellectual Property Development Concept for Turkmenistan, taking into account both national priorities and international trends.

Discussions will also cover the implementation progress of Turkmenistan’s 2021–2025 IP Development Programme, as well as cooperation on capacity building and the expansion of the country’s international legal framework through accession to additional WIPO-administered treaties. Turkmenistan is currently a party to 15 WIPO treaties.

Turkmenistan’s participation in the WIPO Assemblies highlights the country’s commitment to international partnership and its determination to modernize its national intellectual property system in line with global standards.
